Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Thursday directed hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana to provide free emergency treatment to road accident victims under the PM-RAHAT scheme.
The hospitals were also asked to ensure compliance with the guidelines of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The Prime Minister-Road Accident Victims’ Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (PM-RAHAT) scheme was launched by the Centre in February.
Under the scheme, treatment cover of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per victim is provided for a maximum of seven days from the date of the accident, irrespective of the category of road on which the accident took place.
The empanelled hospitals have also been directed to set up 24×7 help desks to assist beneficiaries.
Chief executive officer of the State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) Brundha D issued the directives while reviewing the implementation of the schemes at private hospitals here.
Brundha directed all empanelled hospitals to provide free emergency treatment for up to seven days to victims of motor vehicle accidents who are brought to a hospital within 24 hours of the accident. Each victim would be entitled to cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh, she said.
The hospitals were also asked to provide free treatment to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) cardholders as per the prescribed guidelines.
Brundha said empanelled hospitals must integrate their Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account)-based medical records, healthcare facility registry and health professional registry with the ABDM software by the end of August.
Failure to comply with the directive will result in withholding of incentives payable to the hospitals concerned under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Continued non-compliance may also lead to de-empanelment of the hospitals, she warned.
According to the scheme guidelines, every empanelled hospital must set up an Ayushman Bharat help desk at a prominent location near the main entrance and appoint Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras (PMAMs) to manage it round the clock.
With the implementation of ABDM, patients will not have to carry their previous medical records or reports with them.
In case a patient is referred from one hospital to another, the treatment history, investigation reports and other medical information can be transferred easily and quickly, officials said.
