Champua: Three people died after the motorcycle they were riding was being hit by a passenger bus near Tolaknanda area under Champua block in Keonjhar district Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Dulu Naik, Akash Mahakud and Sunil Mahakud of Sasang village.
According to locals, the deceased men were heading towards Berhampur Karanjia. A passenger bus coming from the opposite direction hit them while they were approaching Bhaluka nullah near Tolaknanda.
While Akash and Sunil died on the spot, local people rushed Dulu to Champua sub-divisional hospital where doctor Jogendra Nath Aadhia declared him dead on arrival.
On being informed, Champua police reached the spot and seized the bus that had veered off the road into the roadside paddy fields after the accident. That said, the driver, conductor, helper and other passengers of the bus escaped with minor injuries.
