Aul: Four members of a family were critically injured in an attack by robbers in Bharatpur village under Aul police limits of Kendrapara district Thursday.
The incident took place late at night when more than five armed robbers broke into the house of Hadibandhu Sahu (72) and looted valuable. When the family members resisted, the robbers attacked them and rendered them critical.
The injured have been identified as Hadibandhu, his wife Bhagabati (62), daughter in law Urmila (38) and son Basudev (40).
The injured persons screamed for help after the miscreants fled the scene. Locals rushed them to Aul hospital for treatment. They were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.
The robbers also looted from Alekh Sahu’s house in the same locality. The cops have launched a probe into the matter.
Villagers held protests and blocked the Cuttack-Chandabali road demanding swift action by the cops. They called off the strike after the police assured them of a fair probe.
