London: Indian skipper for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) hurt his finger Tuesday while batting at the nets during a training session at the Kensington Oval here. The Indian team management refrained from making any comments on Rohit Sharma’s finger injury on his left hand. However, Rohit did not bat any further during the training session and preferred to sit out. Physio of the Indian team, Kamalesh was seen taping the left thumb of Rohit.

The Indian captain did pad up for a second time to bat at the nets, but then had a change of mind. No doubt, the news of the injury will certainly be a huge source of anxiety for the millions of Indian fans. The WTC final begins Wednesday.

Rohit and Shubman Gill are expected to open the innings in the five-day Test. While Gill was in sizzling form in the recently-concluded IPL, Rohit seemed to be getting back his mojo at the business end of the tournament. However, the bruised finger will certainly worry the Indian think tank, as Rohit is not just a batter, but the captain of the side.

Meanwhile star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has pointed out that the Oval pitch might be a bit bouncy and may cause problem for batters. If it is a bouncy track, it will certainly be advantage Australia.
