Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over the financial difficulties of the parents of conjoined twins of Kandhamal district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday sanctioned `1 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for their treatment.
The twins –Honey and Singh – had their heads conjoined from birth and are under treatment at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Their father is a labourer and the family in BPL category cannot afford the cost of treatment required to separate the conjoined heads.
The twins will be operated upon at the premier medical institute shortly. The fund has been sanctioned on the request of their mother Puspanajali Kanhar. The money is being transferred to the account of AIIMS director as per the recommendation of the doctors looking after the twins’ treatment, a CMO official said.
