Khurda: Police Thursday night arrested three persons, including the kingpin, in connection with a bank robbery at Biribadi Square, 14 months ago. Accused Suraj Patnaik (32) alias Babul of Nabinabag, Dipak Kumar Swain (22) alias Dipu of Upersahi and Manoj Dalei alias Tikina of Baselisahi were produced in court Friday and were sent to jail following rejection of their bail petitions. Police seized three country guns, Rs 10.40 lakh and two cell phones from their possession. The six persons were earlier arrested in connection with the case.
According to the case details, Balugaon SBI branch cashier Bhupinder Mohanty, along with two security guards were
transporting Rs 60 lakh to the bank from Khurda branch in a bolero February 3, 2014 when the robber gang armed with guns chased down the vehicle at Biribadi Square. The gang assaulted the driver and snatched the guns of
the security guards before fleeing with the box containing the cash.PNN
