Rayagada/Bissamkatak: Orissa Maobadi Party (OMP) leader Sabyasachi Panda was produced in Bissamkatak court in Rayagada district Wednesday for his involvement in nine pending cases.
Panda was brought from Gunupur jail to the court amid tight security.
Several cases were registered against him in various police stations of the district between 2010 and 2013. The cases he was involved in included murders, threat to murder, abduction, torching of houses, blasting of government office buildings and telephone towers, illegal possession of weapons and other anti-social activities.
Panda appeared before the judicial magistrate first class in connection with nine serious charges. However, the judge transferred the cases to Gunupur ADJ court citing jurisdiction issues.
The Maoist leader, however, said he had no involvement in these cases and police implicated him on false charges. He is innocent and has full faith in the country’s judicial system, Panda told media persons.
A platoon of police force was deployed on the court premises as over a hundred people turned up to see Panda. PNN
