Daringbadi: Top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda Tuesday was produced in the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) for the third time this year amid tight security arrangements.
Several criminal cases are pending against him at Brahmanigaon and Daringbadi police stations. He was produced in court in at least eight of those cases while police have filed preliminary charge-sheets in two of them, government advocate Jyoti Ranjan Das said.
Panda would appear in court again April 25, his counsel Deepak Kumar Patnaik said.
The Orissa Maobadi Party leader was brought from Berhampur circle jail to Daringbadi under a security cover provided by Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans. Local IIC Baba Shankar Saraf and Baliguda SDPO Surendranath Murmu were also present during Panda’s appearance in court. PNN
