Bhubaneswar: Orissa youngster Saina Salonika bagged gold medal in the under-14 category of the Commonwealth Chess tournament which concluded Monday in New Delhi. The Women’s FIDE Master finished with six points in the seven-round contest. She won five matches while two of her games ended in a stalemate and thus remained unbeaten in the event. The title triumph also enabled Saina to improve on her ELO rating. She currently has 2,079 rating points while the 13 she got after winning the championship will help in improving her ranking as she pursues her goal of getting her first women’s IM norm.
