Ghasipura: Supporters of Sana Sena, a local socio-political outfit formed in the name of Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud, allegedly unleashed a reign of terror in Ghasipura area of Keonjhar. They allegedly vandalized the office of Debapriya Patra, the son of school and mass education minister, Badrinarayan Patra, at Shalapada bypass Tuesday. Tension prevailed in the area even as locals were panicked over the vandalism and arson.
The Sena activists tried to assault Debapriya by pelting stones at his the vehicle. Patra managed to escape.
The activists hurled petrol bombs at the office and then set it ablaze. They were accused of looting the office and decamped with assets worth over lakhs of rupees.
All furniture and important documents in the office reportedly perished in the arson and vandalism.
Hours before the incident, the activists were on their way to SDPO office. On the way, they damaged a welcome gate put up by the minister’s son.
On reaching SDPO office, they used expletives against police, some eyewitnesses said.
Though the incident took place in front of police, the latter reportedly tuned mute spectators.
It may be noted here that the activists had assaulted former Gohira sarpanch Monday and left him wounded critically at a place between Belabahali and Siapada. The ex-sarpanch is under treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
With Sana Sena on the offensive, the law and order situation in Anandapur area has deteriorated, the report said. PNN
