Bhubaneswar, August 11: Crime Branch (CB) continued the marathon grilling of Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raula for the third consecutive day Tuesday. CB officials said Sarathi will be produced in the SDJM court after his three-day remand, Wednesday.
CB officials Tuesday questioned 13 associates of Sarathi including his driver and caretaker, said the sources. The questioning was to elicit information about the self-styled godman’s lifestyle.
“So far, the CB has seized 19 bank accounts of Sarathi and the amount found in these accounts is more than `2crore. But the agency exclusively focused on investigation related to his properties, donations given to Sarathi Samiti Committees, and three rooms at his Barimul Ashram, where CCTV cameras were installed,” CB sources said.
Meanwhile, CB ADG BK Sharma pointed out that it is a complex case and it will take some time to unravel all case details. Earlier in the day a team of CB officials interrogated the friends of an MBBS student, who had accompanied Sarathi to Hyderabad.
CB officials Tuesday interrogated his associates Kailash Mallik, Kishore Mallik and Khageswar Rout in connection with the case, sources said.
The MBBS student had lodged a complaint with Manglabag police against the three and another person alleging they were forcing her to accompany Sarathi to Hyderabad.
CB officials said they will produce Sarathi in the court and appeal to the court to take him on a five-day remand for further interrogation.
