Bhubaneswar: A few chunks of concrete came loose from a grid on the flyover near Rasulgarh Square in the city late Tuesday. The incident occurred when traffic was in full flow in the area. But, no casualty was reported. Soon after the incident a large crowd gathered at the site and expressed anger at the civic authorities.
A few months back, a span of the under-construction railway overbridge at Bomikhal had given in killing one scooterist and critically injured his daughter who was riding pillion. A number of construction workers at the site also sustained injuries. The scooterist and daughter were rushed to a health facility nearby but the former was declared brought dead.
The incident had given rise to widespread resentment among people following which work on the project was suspended for a while. However, it seems the civic authorities have not taken a lesson from the incident and the incident at Rasulgarh Square bears testimony of it.
