BHUBANESWAR: Country’s largest bank State Bank of India launched its second edition of annual flagship programme ‘SBI Green Marathon’ to promote sustainability here Sunday.
Praveena Kala, CGM, Bhubaneswar Circle and , MD & CEO, SBI General pvt Ltd. SBI flagged off the event that witnessed nearly 3000 enthusiastic runners in Bhubaneswar. Kalpana Dash – first Odia mountaineer to scale Mt. Everest, Anuradha Biswal – national record holder for 100m hurdles and Sradhanjali Samantaray – former captain, Indian women’s football team, also graced the event.
William Xalxo, former hockey Olympian, attended the event as well. The Sunday morning in Kalinga Sports Complex observed participants from across the city running 5, 10, 21 Kms marathon, pledging for a greener future.
Senior officials of the bank also contributed to the ‘Run for Green’ theme and ran the marathon along with other participants. All the runners were given organic t-shirts to promote clean and green city and their bibs consisted of seeds for tree plantation post Marathon.
SBI in the next month is also rolling out its green marathon in Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Patna, Kolkata and Jaipur. The bank has organised nine marathon events in New Delhi Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Guwahati, Bhopal and Chennai in the last four months.
SBI General Insurance is the health partner for SBI Green Marathon whereas SBI Life, SBI Mutual Funds and SBI Card are also significantly contributing to this zero waste event.
State Bank of India (SBI) the largest commercial bank in terms of assets, deposits, branches, customers and employees and is also the largest mortgage lender in the country. As on September 30, 2018, the bank has a deposit base of Rs. 28.07 lakh crore with CASA ratio of 45.27% and advances of Rs. 20.69 lakh crore. SBI commands a 34.28% market share in Home Loans and a 34.27% market share in Auto Loans. The Bank has the largest network of nearly 22,300 branches in India and an ATM network of nearly 59,500 ATMs.
The number of SBI customers using internet banking facility are 5.5 crore customers. The number of customers engaged with the mobile banking services of SBI stand at 1.25 crore. Downloads for YONO – an integrated digital and lifestyle platform by SBI – are over 1 Crore, with more than 3 lakh logins per day.
