Post News Network, Bhubaneswar, February 18: The Government Boys’ High School, Unit-1 has a great building, good to look at from a distance. But inside the building students face only problems. There is lack of class rooms, benches. Drinking water is a cause to worry. The school authorities are aware of the problems but have, till date, failed to solve those.
Students say it’s five years now they are attending classes with these problems. “We have been complaining to the management for one year now, but no action has been taken yet. And we came to know that our seniors also had gone through this condition but the management did not pay any attention to the issue,” said Monaj Mohanty, a Class nine student.
Another student, Sushant Barik claimed that the students of Class nine and 10 were sitting in a room where the two classes were separated by a big white board. This results in many disturbances while classes are going on.
Moreover, inadequate furniture for the classes and lack of potable water have also became a source of worry for these students. “Eight students sit in a bench meant for five; we somehow manage. This is so pathetic! Our school however, looks great from outside, but there are lots of problems inside,” said Mohit Nag, a student.
The headmaster of the school Promad Kumar Das accepts that problems are there. “I have just joined this school as a headmaster. I am trying to resolve all the problems. I have already written a letter to the District Education Officer concerning the issue and I hope the DEO will sort it out as soon as possible. I assure the students that they will have all facilities by the end of this year,” Das added.
