Bhubaneswar, July 23: Bhubaneswar Sepak Takraw Association felicitated the players of the state who were selected for the national camp which is going to be held at Hyderabad July 24-August 22. The players, who will be selected from the camp, will represent the country in the U-21 Asia Cup Sepak Takraw Championship. Tulasi Behera, Aliva Das, Chunmun Samal, Itishree Samal and Niharkanta Behera are the players who have been selected for the camp.
New volleyball wing
A new volleyball wing was included in the SAI, Cuttack Centre at the Barabati premises Thursday. Initially 15 players will be allowed residential training facility in the Cuttack Centre, which will open its gates in August.
Sports medicine centre
A sports medicine centre will shortly be opened at the Jagatpur SAI Rowing centre in a bid to promote it as an international excellence centre. The decision has been taken by a high level steering committee headed by Kamakhya Prasad Singh Deo in Cuttack, Thursday. A pilot project has been finalised by the committee which includes other infrastructural development of the centre as well.
Powerlifting Championship
Orissa Powerlifting Association and Utkal Karate School will jointly organise the 26th State Powerlifting Championship at the latter’s premises here August 6-9. The competition will be played under five categories.
