Kakatpur, March 22: Servitors of Mangala Temple have once again threatened non-cooperation in the upcoming Banajaga Yatra after the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration chief administrator Suresh Mahapatra failed to turn up Sunday for a meeting to discuss their demands as assured.
The servitors said they would resort to wearing black badges in order to protest the temple administration’s apathy.
The servitors held protests near Singhadwar here hoping that Nabakalebar Infrastructure Development Committee chairman Maheswar Mohanty and tourism and culture minister Ashok Panda, who had visited here to review work at the Deuli Mutt, would resolve their issues, but the duo did not have time for an interaction.
Mohanty and Panda left for Konark soon after reviewing the renovation work at Deuli Mutt, sources said.
“The temple administration had assured us of looking into our demands with regards to remuneration at a meeting but the chief administrator did not turn up today. We had hoped that Mohanty and Panda at least would talk with us, but they ignored us,” the temple servitors’ committee secretary Pabitra Mohan Dikhit said.
“The temple administration should hold talks with the servitors and concede their genuine demands for the smooth conduct of the Banajaga Yatra. I hope chief temple administrator Suresh Mahapatra finds a way to break the stalemate over remuneration,” Mohanty said.
