Kendrapara: In yet another incident of cyber crime, a video clip featuring a Plus II college girl student and her boy friend has gone viral on social media.
According to sources, the boy had recorded his intimate acts with the minor girl in a room under Patkura police limits. Later, these scenes started making rounds on WhatsApp.
Police sources said the accused had allegedly raped the girl several times and later started blackmailing her when she did not agree to his demands. Then the accused allegedly made the sex video viral recently, said police sources.
The girl’s family lodged a complaint with Patkura police station Saturday. Acting on the FIR, Patkura police have started an inquiry by registering a case (No-199/18) under Section 376(ii)(n), 506, 509, 292 of IPC, 67, 67(A), 67(B) of Information Technology Act, 2000; Section 6 of POCSO Act. The girl was sent for medical examination to the district headquarters hospital Sunday.
Meanwhile, police have formed a team to nab the accused, informed SP Niti Sekhar.
Despite the strict guidelines laid down by state police against posting objectionable material on various social media platforms, viral videos keep surfacing in coastal Kendrapara district at regular intervals.
