Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Amit Shah will visit the state July 1 to review party affairs and expedite the Mission 120+ set by him for the state. This will be his eighth trip during the past four years.
“His visit is meant to review BJP’s party affairs in the state and put forward the roadmap to achieve Mission 120+,” state BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said here Monday.
Mission 120+ was launched by Shah in Odisha to get at least 120 seats in the 147-member Assembly in 2019 elections.
As the BJP has adopted Act East policy, Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been touring Odisha at regular intervals to form a saffron government here. Last month, Modi had visited the state and addressed a rally in Cuttack.
The party leadership hopes that Shah’s frequent visits will strengthen and rejuvenate the party cadre at the grassroots level. During the July 1visit, Shah will interact with the state party leaders on the strategy to achieve the goal.
The national BJP president had visited Odisha April 4-5 and addressed two public meetings in Kalahandi and Bolangir. However, BJD vice-president Prasanna Acharya said the visit will not have any impact on the state politics. “Modi and Shah are making frequent visits to Odisha, but they yield no result. The future visits will not have any impact,” he said.
