Bhadrak: A Shivling and a statue were discovered at Baladia Pada of Goramati village under Goramati panchayat in Bhadrak block Saturday night.
As the news spread, hundreds of people from nearby areas were seen making a bee line at the spot to catch a glimpse of the Shivling.
“Yesterday was amavasya or new moon day. A Shivling and a statue discovered on such an auspicious day means nothing but the blessing of the lord,” said some villagers.
They said a tractor was engaged to level the soil of Baladiapada ground as a children’s park will come up there.
It was when the tractor driver was leveling the soil Saturday night, the driver felt the blades of the leveler attached to the tractor hit a rock-like object under the ground.
The tractor driver and the owner inspected the particular place and dug it up. To their utter dismay, they stumbled upon a Shivling and a statue. They immediately informed the sarpanch and villagers who came running to the spot and found it to be true.
