Baripada: The town police has arrested a youth Sunday on charge of allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Mayurbhanj district.

According to the police sources, the accused youth took the child to a nearby forest where he raped her. The victim has been admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital (PRMMCH) for treatment. The minor is said to be in a critical condition.
Acting on an FIR lodged by the victim’s family members, the town police immediately launched a manhunt leading to the arrest of prime accused Shiva Singh. Police have registered a case in this connection and suspected involvement of few others in the sensitive case.
Details are still awaited as investigation is underway.
Notably, in yet another brutal incident of rape and murder, the body of a five-year-old girl was recovered from a forest near Kharkhari village under Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district Friday.
Allegedly, the accused had stoned her to death following rape of the minor girl, fearing that she might disclose about the incident.
