SK Panigrahi new UBI regional head
Bhubaneswar: Sushil Kumar Panigrahi has taken charge as the Regional Head of Union Bank of India at the banks regional office in Bhubaneswar. He had been working as regional head at Bhopal. He had joined the bank as a probationary officer in 1990 and discharged his duties in various capacities in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka, Mumbai and Kerala. Out of his 27 years of service has more than 20 years of branch exposure. He was promoted as AGM in 2013 and DGM in 2016 for his excellent duties and services during his tenure. Panigrahi is likely to focus for the overall growth of Union Bank of India in Odisha.
Bankers likely to go on strike against FRDI Bill
Chennai: Opposing the Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FRDI) Bill, the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has said it is planning a strike if the Centre proceeds on the proposed legislation. In a statement issued late on Monday, the AIBEA said: “The Bill has created widespread fear, apprehension and panic amongst the depositors that the government is contemplating to liquidate the banks and the deposits of the Banks will not be returned because of the bail-in clause of the Bill.” According to AIBEA, the Bill provides for setting up a new authority Financial Resolution Corporation (FRC) which will deal with liquidation and resolution of Banks Insurance and other financial institutions.
SpiceJet to launch six new flights
New Delhi: SpiceJet, the country’s low cost airline, Tuesday announced the launch of six new additional frequencies to cater to the surge in demand owing to the upcoming holiday season. The new seasonal flights will be effective from December 22, 2017 and will continue till February 5, 2018. According to a company’s press release, the airline will operate the new daily direct flights on the Chennai-Kochi, Chennai-Kolkata and Kolkata-Port Blair routes. SpiceJet will deploy its Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these sectors..
Form TRAN-1 revision deadline is Dec 27
New Delhi: The government has advised the taxpayers who have claimed transitional credit erroneously, to avail of the opportunity to revise Form TRAN-1 by December 27, 2017 and ensure that only correct and bonafide credit is availed in transition. In a statement issued by the finance ministry, taxpayers have been warned that failing to do so the tax administration would be constrained to initiate audit and enforcement action against the identified units. According to the statement, transition to GST provided for trust based transition of input tax credit of the existing taxpayers.
