Rourkela, Dec 28: Railway police Sunday arrested two siblings – a brother and sister – of Jharkhand on the charge of trafficking a minor girl of Badabahal village under Bhasma police limits in Sundargarh district to Bangalore. The duo was produced in court the same day.
The accused were identified as Krishnaram and his sister Baijayanti of Simdega. Two middlemen of Jharkhand who were also involved in the case are on the run, police said. While further investigation into the matter was on, the girl was handed over to local Child Line authorities. A GRP team is likely to go to Jharkhand to nab the absconding accused.
According to reports, the siblings earlier contacted the family of the victim. They reached the village Saturday and lured them with attractive perks to send the girl to work in Bangalore. The accused even managed to bring the girl to the railway station. Meanwhile, the police, acting on a tip-off, reached the station and detained the siblings and rescued the victim.
Later, the two were arrested for giving differing versions to police.
