Berhampur: Security arrangements have been beefed up in the Silk City ahead of the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who will be the chief guest for the 150th anniversary celebration of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Thursday.
He will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 50 different development projects of the BMC during his visit. His programme will begin with ‘Ama Gaon Ama Vikas’ rally by the BJD at Jagannathpur village under Bhabinipur panchayat of Kukudakhandi block.
Keeping in mind the CM’s schedule, security arrangements have been made. Southern Range IG and SP have been monitoring the situation. At least 30 platoons have been deployed while six additional SPs, hundreds of DSPs, police inspectors and sub-inspectors were seen busy making the arrangements Wednesday.
The 150th anniversary programme will take place on the premises of Khallikote cluster Autonomous College. The CM will land in a helicopter at City High School and from there he will begin the foundation-laying ceremonies and inauguration of 32 projects. Later, he will open the state’s first E-library, lay the foundation stone and inaugurate another five development projects before heading for the anniversary programme. PNN
