Baleshwar: Six firefighters were injured after coming into contact with an 11-kV power line during flood rescue operations in Darji Pokhari of Baleshwar, officials said.
A fire services team was conducting rescue operations Saturday using a power boat when the boat came into contact with a live wire that had fallen into the floodwater. The wire snapped, preventing a more serious incident.
The injured were identified as Assistant Station Officer Jitendra Singh, firefighters Amar Singh, Niranjan Parida and Manoj Kumar Das, and Civil Defence personnel Sheikh Isra Qadri and Bipin Kumar Jena.
They were admitted to the Baleshwar District Headquarters Hospital, where they received treatment. All six were later reported to be in stable condition.
