Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to act tough against persons who defile the 12th century shrine premises with spittle and littering mouth freshener sachets.
Sources said the SJTA has decided to impose a hefty fine on people spitting at Srimandir. Earlier, the temple administration had instructed devotees and servitors against spitting on the shrine premises.
Earlier, the shrine administration had banned sale of Mahaprasad inside the inner circle (Bhitara Bedha) of Srimandir. “Sale of Mahaprasad inside the inner circle of Srimandir is inconveniencing devotees. Servitors have been advised to sell Prasad at Anand Bazar. We will seize Mahaprasad from the violators,” said a SJTA official.
The shrine administration has appointed 13 designated employees to identify people causing filthiness at Srimandir and take action against them. “SJTA administrator (security), temple supervisor and assistant supervisor will look after the cleanliness aspect,” said the official.
It has been learnt that six designated employees will guard devotees against defiling the shrine premises from 6am to 2pm everyday.
