Slight decrease in the daily Covid-19 infection rate among kids

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 816 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which 106 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,04,875. The active caseload in the state now stands at 8,271. The latest figures show that there is a slight decrease in the rate of daily infections among the kids as well as adults.

Out of the 816 new infections, 475 were reported from quarantine centres while 341 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 849 cases of coronavirus infections Thursday.

Odisha also reported 69 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 7,697 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Friday morning.

Cuttack district topped the list of fatalities with 38 deaths. It was followed by Jagatsinghpur (nine), Dhenkanal (six), Jajpur, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj districts (three each), Angul and Nabarangpur districts (two each) and Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Puri districts (one each).

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 291 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 116 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (46), Jagatsinghpur (34), Jajpur (31), Kendrapara (29), Mayurbhanj (27), Puri (20), Dhenkanal (19), Sambalpur (18), Keonjhar and Sundargarh (16 each), Angul, Bargarh and Deogarh (13 each), Nayagarh (12), Bhadrak and Ganjam (nine each), Koraput (five), Kalahandi and Malkangiri (four each), Bolangir and Kandhamal (three each) and Jharsuguda, Nuapada and Rayagada (one each).

The State Pool reported 62 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,78,07,557 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 764.
