Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at grassroots level, the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) would form campus committees in all the colleges and universities across the state.
A decision to this effect was taken at BCJD state executive meeting-cum-training session where the party emphasised extensive use of social media for its promotion and countering its political rivals.
The student wing of the ruling party which approved four proposals in the meeting decided to open BCJD social media cells at district levels across the state to give a tough fight to its political opponents on the digital platform, BCJD president Ranapratap Patra said.
The daylong meeting and training session was attended by BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many party veterans, ministers, MPs, MLAs and district BCJD along with other BCJD office bearers.
Citing the adage “Count your blessings”, Patnaik told the student leaders and members of his party to project the advantage, success and potential they have.
The BJD chief also asked the leaders to highlight the welfare programmes and schemes the BJD government has floated for the benefit of students as well as youths of the state.
On the occasion, the CM also said that to make Orissa a model state for skill development, the state government has taken up a programme to provide world class skill training to eight lakh students and three lakh students have already received the training.
During the training session many students and party members were disseminated information about the state’s political affairs before 2000 and between 2000 and 2017. They were asked to move beyond college campuses and reach out to people at ward and booth levels for the benefit of the masses.
Since the focus is now on 2019 elections, the student wing has decided to reach out to masses with various issues including central apathy, failure of Modi government’s ‘Acche din’ assurance and the alleged false propaganda launched by opposition Congress and BJP against the ruling BJD in the state.
