Sonepur/Binika: A man from Tulundpali village under Binika police limits of Subarnapur district died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Raghu Bhoi, 43, a daily wage labourer in the village.
Police said Raghu, who regularly consumed liquor, was found unconscious near the village pond after consuming liquor.
On being informed, family members rushed him to the Binika community health centre in critical condition, where doctors pronounced him dead. His body was kept at the morgue and a post-mortem examination will be conducted Monday.

Raghu’s wife, Allhadini, alleged that her husband died after consuming spurious country liquor, which is openly sold in the area. She lodged a written complaint at Binika police station, demanding an end to the illegal liquor trade.
Police registered a case and said the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is available to them. Binika IIC Satya Narayan Pradhan said the investigation will proceed based on the medical findings.
Meanwhile, residents alleged that the sale of spurious liquor has been on the rise in the region, trapping many youths. Locals have urged police and Excise officials to crack down on the illegal liquor trade.
Raghu is survived by his wife, a seven-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. His death has left the family shattered.
