Bhubaneswar: Ace sprinter and Olympian of the state Srabani Nanda has been selected to receive the 24th Ekalavya Award to be presented by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT).
IMPaCT, the charitable wing of IMFA Group, announced about the recipient of this year’s award here Saturday. Hockey stars Deep Grace Ekka and Dipsan Tirkey will also be honoured. Last year, another ace Olympian sprinter Dutee Chand had won the prestigious award.
Srabani will bag a cash prize of `500,000 along with a trophy. Deep Grace and Dipsan will take home `50,000 and a citation each in a special function later.
Previously eminent players Dillip Tirkey, Debashish Mohanty, Anuradha Biswal, K Ravi Kumar, Padmini Rout and Shreyanka Sarangi have received the award.
Ganjam, KIIT win
Ganjam men and KIIT women’s teams won their respective matches on the opening day of the Inter-District Kho kho Championship at the Berhampur Stadium in Berhampur, Saturday. In the men’s category, Ganjam registered a 12-11 win over Gajapati. Meanwhile, KIIT thrashed Gajapati 14-0 in the women’s segment.
Fourteen men’s team and 12 women’s team from Bolangir, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Puri and Sundargarh are taking part in this competition.
Shooting tourney
Talcher Rifle Club will organise a Shooting Championship at the King Hridaya Chandra Dev Shooting Complex in Talcher, October 12-14.
