Bhubaneswar: A 30-member delegation from the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) wing of the Sri Lankan government, currently on a five-day visit to Odisha, toured the Kalinga Stadium and Odisha State Museum (OSM) here Thursday. During the visit, delegations explored various state-of-the-art sports facilities at Kalinga Stadium, including the Sports Science Centre, Athletics Stadium, Hockey Stadium, and high-performance centers for weightlifting, swimming, badminton, shooting, and gymnastics. The officials praised the world-class sports infrastructure and also learned about successful hosting of several international tournaments in the state.
Later part of the day, the delegation visited OSM and toured various galleries, including the Pre-Historic gallery, Royal and Ivory gallery, Zoology gallery, Mining and Geology gallery, Palm-leaf Manuscript gallery, Mask gallery, Tribal gallery, and Handloom gallery. The participants showed keen interest in learning about Odisha’s history, culture, heritage, and unique traditions. A documentary on the Paika Rebellion and Odisha’s contribution to the Indian freedom struggle was also screened during the visit.
Officials from the state’s Information and Public Relations department, Odia Language, Literature and Culture department, and the Sports and Youth Services department participated in the day’s programme.
The delegation also toured historic Konark Sun Temple, Emperor Ashoka’s Rock Edicts and the Dhauli Peace Pagoda during the five-day visit. Earlier Tuesday, the delegation met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
