Bhubaneswar: To execute three big projects related to Bhubaneswar smart city, the state government has asked Centre for a financial assistance of `910 crore under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funding.
The housing and urban development department has submitted detailed project reports of the three schemes to smart city mission director Sameer Sharma requesting him to forward it to the department of economic affairs of ministry of finance for the release of JICA fund, sources said Thursday.
The state government has sought `205 crore for executing the railway station multimodal hub phase-I project, `509 crore for integrated sewerage system and `196 crore to make Bhubaneswar city Wi-Fi enabled.
While the railway station multimodal hub and Wi-Fi projects will be implemented by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), Orissa water supply and sewerage board (OWSSB) will execute the sewerage project.
In its proposal, the state government has said that Wi-Fi project will be implemented within one year while the other two will be completed in three years.
Under the railway station multimodal hub phase-I project, bus terminal with commercial areas, 2 level basement parking, shop lines, three high rise buildings ranging from G+20 to G+30 floor along with other utilities, energy station, semi-underground domestic and fire fighting water reservoir with pump rooms, rain harvesting system and garbage compartment will be set up. The entire construction will be on the concept of green building.
The sewerage project will be integrated with the ongoing phase I project and government expects the toilet coverage will increase to 80 per cent and the sewerage network will be 100 per cent. This project will not only provide sewerage network but also ensure its treatment before its disposal in river.
The Wi-Fi project will be implemented within the city limits of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The government will provide easy and quick internet access to the citizens free of cost for which around 5000 access points will be set up across the city.
