Bhubaneswar, June 5: The state government has decided to launch very soon the third round of Mission Indradhanush that aims at full immunisation by 2020. Health and family welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak Friday informed Union health minister JP Nadda during a review meeting through video-conferencing.
While the first round was launched in April, the second round was launched last month and the third round of the immunisation programme will be launched very soon, Nayak informed the Centre. During the third round, the state has targeted to immunise 1,32,834 children, Nayak said.
The mission will cover 33,637 children up to two years of age and 7,980 pregnant women in the state, he informed.
Task forces have been formed and nodal officers have been appointed at the district-level for smooth implementation of the programme.
Nadda appreciated the work done by the state and assured to provide all possible support for proper implementation of the mission, sources said.
The mission aims to immunise children against diseases such as measles, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis, tuberculosis, polio and whooping cough. The mission has been jointly funded by the state and Centre.
