Bahanaga: Fishermen caught a long and heavy metallic rocket-like object in their fishing net off the coast of Bahanaga block here in Balasore district Thursday.
The strange object got caught in the net of Harihar Majhi, a resident of Baunsa Aadia village of Kharasahapur panchayat. He was at first exalted after finding his net to be heavier than usual. He and his four co-fishermen thought they had caught a large amount of fish. But to their utter dismay, they found a rocket-like object caught in their net.
It was learnt that they have informed the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur about the catch.
Meanwhile, people from nearby areas gathered at Majhi Sahi of Kharasahapur panchayat to catch a glimpse of the object.
Notably, eight fishermen from Talapada village under Remuna block in Balasore district had had a similar catch in the month of August this year.
It was when they were sailing in a mechanized country boat August 17 that they saw a shooting star like object falling from sky. The shooting star like object dropped in water at Jamuka river mouth. And the same object got caught in their net.
They had said the rocket-like object was still producing a certain sound for some time after its retrieve. Later the sound stopped on its own. The 8 ft long object weighing about 50 kilograms was later handed over to the officials of ITR at Chandipur.
