Baripada: Illegal appointments were allegedly made in the computer and security sections of the newly set up PRM Medical College and Hospital in Baripada. 17 people were illegally engaged in the department without adhering to proper process.
Reports said an advertisement was out January 1, 2018 to fill up skilled, and unskilled posts for the PRM Medical College and Hospital. However, the advertisement was canceled for some reasons vide letter-65(dated January 19, 2018). But it was alleged that a doctor in the medical college has engaged 17 youths including four girls.
Two girls were security guards while the rest were engaged in computer work and in library.
On inquiry, it was learnt that the youths have been working since January while 10 of them are from outside the district.
They youths said they have not been issued appointment letters on the assurance that they would be engaged through an outsourcing agencies. They also said they have paid Rs 30,000 each for the job.
There are demands to find out the people behind the illegal engagement of the youths in the medical college. The incident points to the fact that some middlemen are trying to cheat job-seeking youths.
Mayurbhanj Adivasi Students’ Association (MASA) demanded a probe into it.
President of the tribal students’ body Sukalal Marandi sought stern action against the middleman involved in such illegality.
He warned that tribal youths will stage an agitation if the medical authorities do not engaged local youths in Group-D post from the district. Dean of the medical college, Prof Dr Ramraman Mohanty said he has no such allegation in this regard. “As there is a shortage of staff in the medical college, seven persons were engaged on a daily-wage basis,” he said.
The dean also said that he has apprised the state government of the staff crunch and lack of various infrastructure.
It was learnt that the Supreme Court’s overseeing committee has granted permission for admission of students for 100 seats for two academic years (2017-18 and 2018-19).
A special team of the Union health ministry may visit the college anytime and if it finds shortage of infrastructure, admissions will be canceled. PNN
