New Delhi: The Supreme Court Tuesday directed the state government to file a fresh affidavit in the case of payment to the alleged aggrieved Block Grant Teachers from Orissa who had moved around 20 joint petitions in the court in this regard.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Mohan M Shantanagaudar heard the grievances of teachers and arguments from the state government side. The state government, meanwhile, sought more time to frame rules on the issue of payment to the Block Grant Teachers who had earlier staged protests in the state for fulfillment of their demands.
The court also asked the state to come up with a fresh affidavit by November 14 on the government plans to redress the grievances of the teachers who had moved the apex court en masse to look into their pending demands.
In the last hearing, the state government had told the court that it had decided as per the negotiated settlement to give grant-in-aid to all employees of Block Grant Institutions with effect from January 1, 2018. In a related development, the state government issued a gazette notification October 22 on payment plans to the teachers.
