Lahunipada: A six-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister died after they were bitten by a venomous snake at Jhirpani village under Tamda panchayat in Sundargarh district.
The deceased were identifi ed as Emeralon Ekka and his sister Ablin, children of Isaac Ekka of the village.
According to reports, the siblings asleep with their parents after dinner when a snake bit both of them around 11pm Monday. The family rushed them to the government hospital in Rourkela.
However, doctors declared them dead around 3am. On being informed, Chandiposh police reached the hospital, seized the bodies, and sent them for postmortem. Later, the bodies were handed over to the family. Police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the incident.
