Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Sunrise Club scripted a narrow 1-0 win over Rising Students in a closely-fought match of the FAO first division football league at the Barabati Stadium, here Sunday.
The first half was barren despite attacking football from both sides. The second half also saw the game of soccer at its aggressive best. But Sunrise players were the more opportunistic as they scored the all- important goal of the match through Bharat Munda in the 57th minute. Rising Students tried their best till the last moment, but could restore parity.
In another match, Sports Hostel and Morning Club played out an exciting 1-1 draw.
Sunil Oram scored the first goal of the match for Morning Club in the 35th minute and they maintained their solitary lead during the first half.
After the change of ends, Sports Hostel retaliated with fervour and restored parity through Bhabagrahi Padhiary in the 51st minute. Both sides got a few scoring chances after that, but failed to utilise them.
Selection camp
The first two-day state level grappling training camp organised by the Orissa Grappling Association got under way at the Utkal Karate School here Sunday.
Based on their performance in the camp, players will be selected for the National Grappling Championship at Haryana, November 27-29. Orissa team will depart from here November 25.
