There is a wave of happiness among dog lovers after the Supreme Court’s decision on stray dogs. In its ruling, the court amended the old order and lifted the ban on releasing dogs back. It stated that dogs caught should be released after vaccination, while aggressive and sick dogs must be kept only in shelter homes.

Following this decision, dog lovers are calling it their victory, but people troubled by the menace of stray dogs are opposing it. Overall, the verdict has sparked mixed reactions online. Some are celebrating it as a win for the “Dogesh brothers,” while others are criticising it.

The Supreme Court has made it clear that stray dogs will not be removed from the streets. They must be released after vaccination and sterilisation, except for rabid, infected, or highly aggressive dogs, which will remain in shelters. At the same time, the court has banned feeding dogs in public spaces, instead directing authorities to set up special feeding zones in each ward where dog lovers can feed them freely.

As soon as the ruling came, social media flooded with memes and jokes. Videos of dogs “dancing” in response to the decision are going viral, drawing funny comments. One user joked, “This dog is getting too happy,” while another wrote, “Real freedom is when everyone laughs, smiles, dances, and sings.”

Someone else said, “Dogesh Bhai got freedom after a long fight,” while another quipped, “Good, the verdict favoured Dogesh Bhai, or else he would have attacked the court today.” Some added that “these days, dogs always win,” while others commented, “The system of dogs is stronger than humans; it won’t bow down.” Such memes are spreading rapidly on Twitter and Instagram.

pic.twitter.com/V0c4mrvrvT

Dog lovers argue the ruling protects animal rights and also upholds humanity. But those concerned about public safety believe the growing stray dog menace threatens common people. In short, the matter remains divided—on one side, joy and celebration, and on the other, fear and resentment.
