Keonjhar: The chariot of Lord Sri Baladevjew here was recognised as the tallest one in the country by the India Book of Records (IBR), a New Delhi-based organisation.
It had earlier measured the height of the chariot and verified records at Keonjhar. IBR has issued a certificate of recognition signed by the institution’s chief editor Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury Sunday.
Rajesh Kumar Verma of the IBR has handed over a medal to sub-collector-cum-executive officer of the endowment department, Somnath Pradhan.
The sub-collector said, “This is the fifth recognition of the tallest chariot that we got from different institutions of the nation. We will soon apply for the Guinness Book of World Records and other global records.”
As for the chariot, Dr. Anil Das, a senior reader in DD Autonomous College, noted, “Keonjhar’s chariot, 72-ft high, is being claimed as the tallest in the world for the last several years. The chariot is pulled by thousands of devotees during the car festival since the royal regime in the district. We are proud of this recognition.”
