During the meeting, CM Tamang presented a specially released Rs 50 commemorative coin marking Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Anniversary — a gesture symbolising the historic milestone and the shared spirit of unity and progress between the two states. “It was a great pleasure to meet CM Mohan Charan Majhi. Sharing this symbol of our heritage and collective journey was a moment of pride and joy,” CM Tamang said.
Both leaders acknowledged the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Sikkim and Odisha, and agreed on greater collaboration to boost tourism and economic growth. The meeting also recalled recent coordination between the two states after a road accident in Sikkim in May that involved tourists from Odisha. Sources said both CMs praised the swift response of their administrations during the incident and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring tourist safety and welfare.
Later, CM Tamang met Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan, where he also presented the commemorative coin, describing the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on shared values and deepen goodwill between the two states. “The occasion was an opportunity to reflect on our shared values of unity and progress while strengthening goodwill between our states,” Tamang said. The meetings ended with both leaders expressing optimism about expanding cooperation, particularly in sustainable tourism and deeper cultural ties.
