Bonai: Acting on a tip-off, the Koida police Friday arrested as many as four persons including a teacher for allegedly extorting money from several persons by posing as RTO officials in Koida area under Bonai sub-division in Sundergarh district.
The four have been identified as Koida-based Indira Public School Laxmidhar Panda, Koida forest area gardener Sambhunath Das, driver Basant Kumar Routroy and Ranjan Kumar Ojha.
As per reports, the four fake RTO officials were produced before court while four mobile phones, an SUV, Rs 10,000 and several uniforms were seized from their possession.
Police sources said the accused were intercepting vehicles and collecting money from the drivers February 3, 4 and 5 night posing as RTO officials.
“We have arrested the four accused for collecting money from drivers and seized a car and Rs 10,000. Further investigation in connection with the incident is on,” said Rourkela SP, Uma Shankar Das.
