Hyderabad: A school teacher in Andhra Pradesh was beaten up, stripped and paraded through the streets by a mob Wednesday on the charges of raping a Class X student, reports said. Rambabu, an English teacher had been raping the girl for the last two years on the promise of giving good marks.
A video of the incident, captured by passers-by in Eluru town of West Godavari district, shows the 38-year-old man being made to walk on a busy road, in full traffic.
After the teenager became pregnant, he had given her abortion pills. However, the girl’s family found out about the pregnancy after the girl started bleeding heavily.
Irate family members then informed other residents who caught the teacher, thrashed him blue and black, stripped him and paraded him naked to the police station.
“He is a teacher and lured a Class 10 student with promise of marks and raped her. He made her pregnant. She almost died of bleeding. We shifted her to hospital. Once we found out, we could not spare him,” one of the men is heard saying in the video.
At the police station, the man was given a shirt and a towel to cover himself. He was made to sit and was questioned by the police.
“They called me to talk and then 15 people beat me up mercilessly,” Rambabu said at the police station, admitting to the crime. Police registered a case and Rambabu was arrested.
