Jagatsinghpur: The mortal remains of martyr Prasanna Sahoo were consigned to flames at his native village Parisikhar in the district.
Hundreds of people including schoolchildren and people’s representatives participated in the funeral of Sahoo.
Kakatpur MLA Surendra Sethi, Puri Zilla Parishad chairman Jyotirmaya Dalai, Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prashanta Muduli, Jagatsinghpur MP Kulamani Samal and Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad vice-chairperson expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
The villagers, meanwhile, urged the Centre and the state government to provide job to one of Sahoo’s family members.
“Sahoo was the sole bread earner of his family while his children are studying in college. The Centre and the state government should arrange a job for any member of Sahoo’s family,” said Pradipta Swain a villager.
