Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: Government technical universities and professional colleges may get booster doze in the state in view of reforms made by the state government recently.
In a recently held high-level meeting, it was decided to take immediate action to fill up all vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in the technical colleges and universities.
The institute-heads have been directed to keep an eye on infrastructural development and report the same regularly to the government every month. It was decided to direct all executing agencies to intensify their work and submit partial or full constructed project before the end of this financial year.
The colleges and universities will also work rigorously to get the accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in quick time for which the institutes have been allowed to engage retired professors for preparation of papers.
The work on the digitisation of lecture notes will also be accelerated for which Biju Pattnaik University of Technology will set up e-studios in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela whereas the colleges have been asked to take up one smart class in each department for the purpose.
The authorities will also step up implementation of e-learning system or video lecture along with video conferencing system by the end of this year. The BPUT will also set up a nodal centre in which students will be able to register their grievances through a toll free number.
The university will further float tenders for automation of the examination system by December 30. The digitisation process included automation of library, functioning of reading room and computer centres for which the work is set to be started by December 30.
The state government is also planning to revise the curriculum from the upcoming academic year with the help of bigwig industries of the state. The government has invited feedback from national and international body for the revision of the curriculum.
The meeting was attended by heads of BPUT, Rourkela, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Sambalpur, Technical Education and Training, Cuttack, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang, College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, Parala Maharaj Engineering College, Berhampur, Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi, Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, Institute of Management and Information Technology, Cuttack, and College of IT and Management Education, Bhubaneswar along with government representatives.
