Jean Muir, a prominent actress in the 1930s and 1940s, became the first performer blacklisted in American film industry. In 1950, her name appeared in the anti-Communist pamphlet “Red Channels,” leading to her immediate removal from the television show “The Aldrich Family.” Despite receiving letters over 3,000 advocating for her reinstatement, NBC upheld the blacklist, marking a significant moment in film industry’s history.
