Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: The Health department Friday confirmed another swine flu positive case in the state taking the total number of H1N1 victims to three this year.
According to sources, the victim is a six-year-old child from Tangi in Khurda district. He has been under observation at a private clinic in the city.
“We have examined his blood sample and found it was H1N1 positive. The patient has been isolated and being treated in a private hospital,” said Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) director Shantanu Kar.
Public Health director Kailash Dash said there is no need to panic as the patient is stable. “We have provided all help including drug support and assistance to the private hospital where the patients has been admitted,” said Dash.
The director warned all to be careful in order to prevent the spread of the disease. “Everyone should stay six feet away from the affected person and ensure hand wash before taking food,” said Dash.
Earlier this month, a 56-year-old man was diagnosed positive for H1N1 virus followed by a 35-year-old man in the city. This time, the victim is the youngest.
