Digapahandi: Police, arrested Monday three persons on charges of molesting a woman and robbing her of a gold necklace at Chaitanyapur village under this police limits in Ganjam district, Sunday. The miscreants also assaulted victim’s husband and villagers who tried to rescue her from the attack.
The arrested were identified as S Rama Reddy, M Kalia Reddy and Santosh Reddy of Managarajpur village. A case was registered in this connection and the accused was produced in the court. The three were remanded to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected. They will be housed at the sub-jail here.
Police said that the accused barged into the house of the woman at Chaitanyapur village Sunday and molested her. They snatched away her gold necklace weighing 20 grams when she resisted. Hearing the screams of the woman, her husband and villagers rushed to the stop. The miscreants attacked them also. However, the villagers overpowered them and seized three bikes and sharp weapons from them and informed the police.
Police arrived at the spot and registered a case over a complaint lodged by the victim and arrested the three accused.
