Bolangir: Three minor boys were killed, and three others seriously injured when a pickup vehicle in which they were travelling overturned in Odisha’s Bolangir district Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place near Marlad Square in Titlagarh Tuesday when the vehicle carrying some children was moving from a marriage site to a nearby market to bring some items, said Manoj Kumar Munda, inspector-in-charge (IIC), Titlagarh.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over the death of the three children and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the deceased’s families from his relief fund (CMRF)
The driver also sustained injuries in the accident. The injured persons were rushed to Titlagarh hospital, where doctors declared three dead, he said.
The deceased were identified as Alok Tandi (10), Raja Sika (14) and Rajbir Tandi (13).
“We have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. The bodies were sent for post-mortem,” Munda said.
