Bhubaneswar: Three members of a looting-cum-gambling gang accused of targeting people withdrawing cash from ATMs near Master Canteen and Bhubaneswar railway station have been arrested by Kharvel Nagar police, officials said Saturday.
The arrested persons were identified as Sheik Najimuddin, 29, of Sikharchandi Nagar; Biju Behera, 30, of Masjid Colony, Unit-III; and Sayjad Khan, 54, of Masjid Colony.
Police recovered Rs 11,500 in cash from their possession.
Other members of the gang are absconding.
According to police, the gang targeted outsiders during the early morning hours around the railway station and Master Canteen.
After identifying people who had withdrawn cash from ATMs, the accused allegedly forced them to a gam bling den near Reliance Fresh, where they intimidated and robbed them.
They also allegedly threatened the victims with social embarrassment if they approached police.
