Bhanjakia: In a shocking incident, a tipsy youth strangulated his mother to death and later burnt her body at Sanararuan village under Raruan police limits in Mayurbhanj district Friday night. Police arrested the accused.
According to reports, Parbati Patra (50) along with her son Makaradhwaj Patra (30) used to stay in a shanty near her brother’s house after leaving her husband.
Makaradhwaj is an alcohol addict who often picked up quarrels with people and his mother. Friday night, he had returned home intoxicated and had a tiff with his cousin. Later, he went to the police station.
Returning from the police station, he had verbal duel with his mother and neighbour. He got infuriated and strangulated his mother to death. Then he dragged her body to a place and set it ablaze after dousing it with kerosene.
Alerted by the village guard, police rushed to the spot, seized the burnt body and arrested the accused. PNN
